The cottage dates
back to the 1850s. It is located between
the village of Lieurey and the small
medieval looking town of Pont Audemer, so
rich of canals, quaint houses and small
alleys. At Bernay (18km distant) you will
find a train service that will take you
directly into the heart of Paris (St.
Lazare station). A bus service into
Bernay stops only a few yards away from
the cottage. Within 30 minutes drive are
also the beautiful and elegant sea
resorts of Honfleur, Deauville &
Trouville, with their vast sandy beaches
, excellent sea food restaurants and
Casinos. The historic city of Rouen takes
a little longer to drive to and both
Giverny - Monet's home - and Paris can
also be reached by car from the easily
accessible Autoroute A13 , in approx 90
minutes.
Maison rene's
garden is secluded and south facing, a
real sun trap. You will enjoy great
privacy and your children will be able to
play safely and unsupervised. For the hot
summer days, a barbecue and garden
furniture are provided.
Outside the gates
of the cottage there runs a Route
Touristique: a track no wider than a car
, which those who enjoy exploring the
countryside on foot will find convenient.
Many other rambling routes are accessible
from other surrounding villages and maps
are available at the cottage (a few) as
well as at local tourist offices.
GROUND
FLOOR: The
KITCHEN is fully fitted with a m/w oven,
a gas cooker, fridge and w/machine and of
course a table with chairs. The SITTING
ROOM is right next to the kitchen and it
has a French window opening onto the
patio/garden. There is no main telephone
line but reception with a mobile phone is
very good. However a telephone kiosk is
only a few yards away . We have a TV
linked to a satellite dish, a VCR , a DVD
player and stereo for your entertainment.
UPPER
FLOOR:
A narrow but safe staircase
takes you from the kitchen area onto the
first BEDROOM , furnished with two single
beds. The double bed (4'x6") is in
the adjoining room which also has right
next to it, the BATHROOM. It is very
bright, has a w.c. and a bath tub but no
stand up shower or bidet. Please note
that the two bedrooms are
inter-communicating and do not provide a
great degree of privacy.
HEATING:
Electric heaters are available.
LEISURE:
Golf, fishing, a sport
center with indoor and outdoor swimming
pools in Pont Audemer, horse riding
schools , cycling, tennis, water sports
facilities at the Toutanville Lake (10km)
, Castles and Abbeys , country walks, and
so much more!
In the summer
months there are many open air envening
events - from "son &
lumiere" to firewoks - and fairs of
all sorts are organised by the villages
all over the Region.
SHOPPING:
There is a small supermarket in Lieurey
that also opens on Sunday mornings and
three larger supermarkets in Pont
Audemer. Pont Audemer's own high street
is lined with all kind of shops and
Cafes. Markets are held almost every day
of the week in the surrounding villages
and towns and in Pont Audemer there is
one on Fridays and one on Mondays.

LINEN/TOWELS:
not supplied. Only quilts
and pillows are kept at the cottage.
PETS &
SMOKING: not
allowed.

available at maison rene. But do enquire
as we might know of other properties in
the area.
TRAVEL: There are special price
ferry crossings to France available
through Chez Nous Travel service for
those who book our cottage. We will send
you on request the necessary code number
upon receipt of your booking deposit.
Car-Hire facilities ara available both at
the airport and at Bernay for those
arriving by train from Paris.
RESERVATION
& PAYMENT:
Click on the
email link at the bottom of this page and
send your request. We will reply by
sending you a Booking form electronically
and then allow a few days for your
deposit cheque - 30% of the rent - to
arrive.
(Please note that there is
a "breakage" and
"cleaning" security deposit of
£150.00 which is payable with the
balance, 8 weeks before commencement of
the letting. Within a fortnight from the
return of the cottage key , this money
will be refunded to you in full. This
will take place provided no breakages
will have occurred, the property will
have been left clean and tidy for the
next letting and the electricity
consumption will show not to be higher
than the franchise allocated).
